Persistence

This man lost his job in 1831. He was defeated for the legislature, also in 1832. He failed in business in 1933. He was elected to the legislature in 1834. His sweetheart died in 1835. He suffered a nervous breakdown in 1836. He was defeated for Speaker of the House in 1838. He was defeated for nomination for Congress in 1843. He was elected to Congress in 1846. He lost his renomination for Congress in 1848. He was rejected for land officer in 1849. He was defeated for the Senate in 1854. He was defeated for the nomination for vice president of the United States in 1856. He was again defeated for the Senate in 1858. But Abraham Lincoln was elected President of the United States in 1860.

If there is one quality that is possessed by the achievers of the world it is persistence. The persistent man or woman doesn’t accept defeat; he just keeps on keeping on.A temporary setback is not a total knockout. There is nothing wrong or disgraceful about getting knocked down. Virtually all the greats have experienced temporary defeat. Those are the learning times, the opportunities for you to grow and achieve your destiny. If you get up one more times than you fall, you will make it through
